Thesis. Dear readers, I am aware that it had neglected this area for a long time devoted to it only brief and sporadic updates and I apologize for my absence, but a bit 'of time in this part of the commitments are now multiple and time to collect less and less.
I'll be back to update, this time to let them know of the achievement, for me, a little goal that, however, from a certain point of view makes me proud to be finally successful.
On 11 November 2010 I graduated, but it is not in itself a degree that makes me proud, but the fact of being able to cross the finish line with a final examination (or thesis, if you prefer) from the title "Role of Martial Arts in the construction of the dimension of values and identity of individuals: a qualitative empirical research."
As you can imagine from the title, the thesis deals with martial arts (Wushu in detail) and how these affect the daily lives of practitioners.
back here following the introduction of my work.
With so much so that in future posts are keen to publish, let's call them, extracts of this work, I invite anyone who wanted to read the full argument to send me an e-mail to the address found in the right column and I will send attached the complete job.
"Reasons that led me to undertake this work are based on my experience in the field of martial arts that I practice for over eight years. In developing this
my career I was able to gain considerations about the practice that led me, over the years, as if wanting to prove through dialogue with other practitioners.
Thanks to my university career I was able to acquire the foundations to carry out this my way, from here, so the idea of turning this argument in my thesis.
For reasons such as the huge pool of styles of martial arts, but also because of my knowledge in the field, I have reduced the analysis only to Wushu, or martial arts and music Chinese, as will be explained in the first part of the computer.
My work is divided into three parts.
The first part focuses on martial arts, their history, evolution and their philosophy. I thought it appropriate to begin the elaborate in this way in order to give an overview of the topic in relation to which many would be fasting. I myself during the writing of this part, I encountered many difficulties in finding sources. In
chapter in the history and evolution are exposed the problems of historical reconstruction of events and, therefore, the birth of Martial Arts, and later those who are treated, from my point of view, are some key points such as the myths of the Arts, their little historical validity, and later icons such as the Shaolin Temple, some little known aspects in the West by the practitioners themselves as the example of Yongtai Temple (Temple of Nuns War) and the difficulties of affirmation of Martial Arts in almost all Western countries before the advent and success of the final film in Hong Kong. The chapter on the philosophy
briefly summarizes some philosophical aspects related to the Martial Arts and their close proximity, if not merge, with Buddhist concepts.
The second part, however, is the approach used in trying to give an overview of how it has evolved over time and what were the difficulties encountered at the time of his birth.
The fourth chapter focuses on specific technical approach that I used for the conduct of my work.
Finally, the third part is the research itself.
In the fifth chapter I have presented a short line that has been my experience to explain the reasons that have developed my hypothesis.
The assumptions on which the parties relate, in particular, the aspects of values and personal growth of individuals, the change in attitude to the relationship with others and with the same everyday.
The questions I asked myself at the beginning of the work were from my point of view, quite simple. I wondered if it was true that Martial Arts might somehow get to change the overall view of the facts, events, people and, why not, of themselves. Questioned my vision of the figure of preferential Teacher as a guide in practice and in life. I tried to find out if only I consider my training partners of the particular people in terms of emotional and empathetic.
The interviews were conducted, therefore, as its purpose to investigate these hypotheses. The job interview, and later analysis of the transcripts were made trying to maintain a total detachment not to corrupt the results with my any bias on the subject.
The interviewees belong to two different schools of martial arts and have experience of practice behind at least one year. Some of them are considered "senior students" in their schools, while others were chosen by random sampling. It seems only right here to thank all those who gave their full willingness to carry out the interviews proving extremely helpful in meeting my needs well.
Then I provided some research done on the subject headings, for topics such as aggression rather than psychotherapeutic aspects or treatment in families. Thanks for reading this research I could not only expand the pool of my hypothesis, but also have confirmation on some of my assumptions.
In the sixth chapter there is, then, the exhibition itself leaked the analysis results of the interviews.
The chapter is divided into sections representing the main themes that emerged from the evidence collected. "
